Summer Reading

Summer Reading is going to look a little different this year.
Due to COVID-19, the Scranton Summer Reading program is going to be trying out some online programming this year.

We are asking parents to register their kids for the summer reading program so what we can know how many take-and-go kits to prepare. Please fill out this application form by June 30th. We will have the first take-and-go kits available the week of July 6th for registered kids.

Kids Programming:

Mondays: Facebook Live video will introduce the week's theme and show kids how to do the craft. This video will stay on the library's Facebook page for at least a week to allow time for everyone to watch it and follow along with your craft kits.

Take-and-go craft/activity kits will be available Monday-Friday at the library. Stop in to pick up a kit each week.

Thursdays: Zoom meeting at 2 pm for Story Time. Have your answer for the voting question ready!

Adult Programming:

Adults are having different challenges to complete through the months of July.

Challenge 1: Fairy Tale Bowl -Help us determine the winner for the fairy tale bowl. You can vote through Facebook or click here to access the online voting.

Every week through the month of July, there will be voting on the library's website, Facebook page, and at the library to see which fairy tales will win the pairings. Stop in to vote for your favorite fairy tale daily.

Challenge 2: Dystopian Fiction/Twisted Fairy Tales discussion through the library's Zoom meeting room

Challenge 3: Finish the story. Pick a story starter at the library and complete the story.
Not all fairy tales start with "Once Upon a Time..." and not every story ends with "happily ever after."

Challenge 4: Fairy Tale Trivia through the library's Zoom's meeting room
